This beautiful French medal was made by Augis. The plus is set with 5 rose cut diamonds; the minus is set with 4 synthetic emeralds and the medal is set all around with 38 synthetic rubies. It is signed A.A on the bottom, marked with the French eagle’s head and the maker’s mark.
It is written in French: ” + qu’hier – que demain “: “I love you more than I did yesterday and less than I will tomorrow.” The French saying comes from the verse of the poem written by Mrs Rosemonde Gerard to her lover and husband: Edmond Rostand, the famous French writer of Cyrano de Bergerac, a dramatic love play. Alphonse Augis, a French jeweller’s from Lyon, made a love medallion with this verse written on it.
