This ravishing French double snake ring from the Victorian era (c.1880) is quite a gorgeous piece. The design features two intertwined snakes biting their own tails. The serpents’ head are independently adorned with an old European cut diamond, and a deep blue sapphire.
Snakes may frighten a lot but they were a universaly popular expression of an eternal love and were considered as a powerful symbol of wisdom and protection. The prince Albert proposed the Queen Victoria with an emerald snake ring as the engagement ring, since this time, snakes rings became very popular all along the Victorian era. This attractive ring would be suitable for a man or a woman and be the perfect engagement or anniversary ring.
