This ravishing French snake ring is a lovely piece of jewellery. It features a snake turning on itself and adorned with a ruby on its head. It was beautifully handcrafted and the details are rather realistic. The ruby is 2.5 mm of diameter and it weighs around 0.06ct. The ring is in very good condition.
Snakes may frighten a lot but they were a universally popular expression of an eternal love and were considered as a powerful symbol of wisdom and protection. The prince Albert proposed the Queen Victoria with an emerald snake ring as the engagement ring, since this time, snakes rings became very popular all along the Victorian era. It is set with a natural creamy (with a touch of pink) pearl of 5,79 mm of diameter, and with 2 old mine cut diamonds each weighing approximately 0,30ct. The shoulders of the ring are adorned with a natural pearl on the top and one on the bottom ( diameter : 3.68 / 3.72 mm). And then it is magnified with old mine cut diamonds (tcw : 0,40ct approximately)
