A unique and rare pair of jet dormeuses. These mourning dormeuses were made at the very end of the 19th century in France. They are made in 18kt gold and set front is adorned with 2 beads of jet. It is a real testimony of the Mourning jewellery from the Victorian period. The queen of England Victoria lost her husband on the year 1861 and decided to mourn him till her death on 1901. The jewellery fashion turns to black in Europe. These dormeuses were made during this period at the very end of the 19th century. There are controlled with one of the first French eagle’s head for 18kt gold.
The earrings measures 14,02 (0,55) x 13.30 (0,52) x 7,81 (0,30) mm (inch). They weigh 2gr and they are in good antique condition. . Dormeuses because women used to sleep with them how they are delightful to wear. It provides elegance and grace.
