This medal has a flowery around the edges, the minus is set with 3 rectangular synthetic rubies and the plus with 5 rose cut diamonds. It is written in French: ” + qu’hier – que demain “: “I love you more than I did yesterday and less than I will tomorrow.” It is hallmarked with the maker’s mark A. A.
The French saying comes from the verse of the poem written by Mrs Rosemonde Gerard to her lover and husband: Edmond Rostand, the famous French writer of Cyrano de Bergerac, a dramatic love play. Alphonse Augis, a French jeweler’s from Lyon, made a love medallion with this verse written on it.
