This beautiful brooch is set with a vibrant oval cut amethyst. The precious purple stone is around 24.80ct. It is secured with fleur de lys prongs. The brooch is made in 18k yellow hollow gold (tested). It is from the Victorian era circa 1880. The amethyst’s name comes from the Greek: a (without) methysto (drunkenness). The stone may has the power to protect from drunkenness. But nowadays, it symbolises loyalty, sincerity and wisdom.
